In 1986 by chance he found a medical doctor who successfully
treated a patient with severe back pain with a single needle.
The quick and excellent effect of acupuncture left a deep impression
for him and since then it changed his life for the future. He
made up his mind to learn acupuncture because acupuncture takes
effect so quickly and is safe and natural, with no side effects.
In 1987 he started to follow the world famous medical doctor
Yong-Jian Xiao, who specialized in acupuncture. He studied acupuncture
with him for 3 years.
In 1990 he became an acupuncture specialist in China.
In 1996 as a leading acupuncture professor in China, the Menesze
medical school in Brazil invited him and his colleagues to train
Brazilian medical doctors to practice acupuncture for one year.
In 1998 he went back to the neurology department of the Shandong Medical School to be trained to specialize in
neurology because he found the close relationship between nerves and
acupoints.
In 1999 the Texas College of
Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCTCM) in Austin invited him to teach and
instruct students in the school. There, he served as the acupuncture
director and clinical director.
Jian-hua Mu, in the past few years, has been working on several important
topics of Traditional Chinese Medicine, with widely recognized achievements
both in China and in other parts of the world. He participated in several
projects involving the treatment of some diseases with acupuncture, such as
treatment of stroke with acupuncture, treatment of coronary heart disease
with acupuncture, treatment of chronic obstructive pulmonary disease with
acupuncture, and treatment of high cholesterol with acupuncture. He finished
several academic books and numerous academic papers with his teachers and
colleagues. He is the first scholar in the world to determine the location
of the auricular point of the heart with an Electrocardiogram. This method
was published by the leading journal of acupuncture, the World Journal of
Acupuncture, which is sponsored by the World Acupuncture Association.
Because of his outstanding contribution in the academic field he became a
member of China Acupuncture Association in 1991, the most authoritative
professional organization in the field of acupuncture and Traditional
Chinese Medicine in the world. Since he came to the United States he was
invited to give academic seminars for licensed acupuncturists in Austin,
Houston, and Dallas many times a year on topics such as Treatment of
Prolapsed Lumbar Intervertebral Disk with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs,
Treatment of Bell's Palsy with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs, Treatment of
Rheumatoid Arthritis with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs, Treatment of
Impotence with Acupuncture and Chinese Herbs, Treatment of Infertility with
Acupuncture and Herbs, and Treatment of Herniated Vertebra
with Acupuncture and Herbs. All of these lectures incorporated Jian-hua
Mu's experiences from many years of practice. All of them were approved by
the Texas Medical Board to serve as Continuing Education Unit credit for
Licensed Acupuncturists.
Jian-hua Mu currently focuses on acupuncture treatment for pain management,
emotional disorders, and women's diseases.

The first, most systematic, book on auricular acupuncture, it
has been written by Jian-hua Mu together with his colleagues,
for which work he was a lead author. This book has been honored
as an important book in the recent history of acupuncture, by
the Vice President of China Academy of Traditional Chinese Medicine (now
named as China Academy of Chinese Medical Sciences (CACMS),
Professor Weiheng Li. This book also was acclaimed as the 2nd

for which work he was a lead .This book has all of Jian-hua Mu
clinical experience and his own theories on some points. The book
